Our Story
From bike commuters to street advocates
Urban streets today face multiple challenges, from high transport-related emissions to the alarming number of fatalities and injuries from traffic crashes. At Commute Initiatives (Bike Commute Malaysia), we work to transform these streets into safer, more sustainable spaces that support walking, cycling, and public transit, improving health, safety, and environmental outcomes.
We achieve this through a combination of infrastructure, street design, and policy interventions, including raised pedestrian crossings, pedestrian refuge islands, lane narrowing, and curb extensions—all aimed at protecting vulnerable road users and promoting active, sustainable mobility.
Our approach aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), reflecting our commitment to collaborative, evidence-based solutions for inclusive and resilient urban streets.

Our Team
We are a diverse team of architects and urbanists who believe that our streets should first and foremost be spaces people, not vehicles.
